Grim Variation 2020-10 Update.txt b+ revised 2020-10-11

Grim Rummy: It's all about Deadwood Points!
Deadwood Points = the total point value of unmatched cards.

	Meld (matched) cards set(s):
Is either 3 or 4 of-a-kind called a Group or a sequence
eg 5, 6, 7 of 3 or more cards of same suit called a
Straight. A card may be used in a Group or Straight but
not both.

Deadwood Points = the total point value of unmatched
cards, Aces count as 1, Face cards as 10. Get your Deadwood
points to 10 or below to 'Knock' or call 'Gin' = 0 Deadwood
Points. Either, calls for a showing of cards and scoring.

	Play:
Each player, human and computer, is dealt 10 cards and a
card is placed face up that begins the discard pile. The
human plays first at start of the game, thereafter the
loser of the last round starts the next. The human and
computer take turns choosing from the discard pile or the
deck and discarding, maintaining 10 cards in their hands.

After the discard, one calls Gin having 0 Deadwood points
or Knocks with 10 or less Deadwood points or their turn is
over, "Pass to computer". If there are less than 2 cards
remaining in the deck while trying to draw from the deck,
the round is ended and the players start a new round.
Rounds continue until one scores 100 points or more, the
human quits, or Windows 10 wants to takeover your computer
for another update.

Scoring for the Grim Rummy Variation:
The winner of a Knock is the player who has the least
Deadwood points. E will receive 30 - the amount of cards
remaining in the deck plus the difference in the Deadwood
points. Ties advance neither player. A Gin is 25 points
plus the difference in Deadwood points.

For this computer game, the cards are represented with the
first letter of the suit C, D, H, S for Clubs, Diamonds
Hearts or Spades. An under-line separates the Suit from the
card number or face letter A, 2, 3,... 10, J, Q, K, color
coded. Hands are arranged in 2D array with 4 rows 1 for
each suit. This makes it convenient to see immediately the
Group and Straight Sets, the Meld.

Why call it Grim Rummy? First because it's all about
Deadwood Points and second the play is rather mindless in
a robotic sense but the AI should give you a good game.

Teaser: Coming soon to your favorite forum: Grin ) Rummy!
Sorry about the coming soon part from May 2020, I had to
find a better Rummy Hand optimizer and that unexpectedly
took months. Now it should be right around the corner and
or just a regular Gin Rummy Game against the computer.
